Troubleshooting common problems faced in audio creation

The audio file created for sync with video is an important aspect for the student to understand the content well. Hence, the creation of an audio file without any issues is of utmost importance. The audio creation after saving is hard to alter. So here are some troubleshooting methods to help you overcome common problems that you can face while recording audio.

Steps to be followed before the creation of audio

The use of a microphone or a headset is highly recommended in comparison to recording directly done via the computer or phone mic without any extra device attached as it can lead to many external disturbances and echo issues.

It is suggested to check the audio frequently while creating them as it will save much of your time goes create it all over again. The whole process might be wasteful if there is a little disturbance in any small part of the file. It is advised to check and re-check the file while recording and make sure it is in sync with the video content to be overplayed.

Steps to be followed while creating audio –

As the audio is required to be of high quality, echo, and external disturbances must not be there in the audio file. When the audio is being recorded in a normal room and with no panels to cancel noise, it can lead to the creation of a file in which the voice will seem to be coming from a distance and might create trouble for students to understand the content.

So the use of noise cancellation panels is advised. These can also be replaced with normal cushions or pillows at your place, which can be used to create a specific area that can serve the purpose of noise cancellation.

When the audio is being recorded in the room, it may happen that the sound of an air conditioner or any traffic might as well get recorded. So it is advised to keep checking the audio file again and again to avoid any disturbances being recorded.

If in case there are such disturbances, you have to create that part of the audio again without any external noises.

Common problems while audio creation their solutions

Sound recorded being too low – If the recorded voice is too low to be audible, try speaking a little louder and into the microphone. Do not keep the microphone too far away for it to capture your sound.

Sound of heavy breathing – If the recording has too heavy breathing, it can become a distraction. It is advised to drink water before recording to provide more clarity in speech. Also keeping the mic at a little distance from the mouth is advised. The ideal distance of the microphone from the mouth is about 6-12 inches.

Distorted sound effects in the audio – If there are any distortions in the audio clip, it may happen due to your voice being too loud for the mic to capture. Try to space it properly and speak in your normal tone rather than trying to be extra loud.

Wind Noise present in audio – If the wind is blowing near your recording setup, it may get recorded and create disturbances. Try recording in a closed room with noise-cancellation panels in place.

Overlapping in audio for a Multi-mic setup –  If there is overlapping in between audios when you are using multiple mics, it is advised to keep the two mics away from each other, at least not in very close proximity to each other.

Popping and less sound in the audio –  The words like if said loudly create distortion. Keeping the mic at a distance of 25-30 cm will help resolve this situation.
